The Mountaineer RC Flying Club was formed in 1970 and flew at a field near Quincy, WV until 1990 when the club relocated to its current location in Saint Albans, WV.
Our flying field is part of the Kanawha County Park’s “Pettigrew Farm” property and includes a 500 X 30 foot grass runway, shelter and battery charging station.
Our flying field is adjacent to Meadowood Park on the Coal River, though our field is separated from the park by the CSX RR Coal River Subdivision. The entrance to our field is on Smith Creek Road, between Ferrell Road and Meadowood Park.
We welcome flyers and visitors anytime we are flying, so feel free to stop by if the gate is open. We are at the field most weekends from around Noon, weather permitting.
